Artist's Comments

As promised heres a new CG. This is a cg film that is being produced by my friend Chad at sva computer arts department. I'm incharge of the Art direction, Look n' Style and as of technical production of this film. This CG piece is for the annual poster at sva computer dept. I relit the models and use an actual action scene and created all the craziness from scratch using After effects, Photoshop and painter. I also generated the background using maya. I'll try to post the WIP of this poster to show how i composited all 3d elements. Also while i was compositing this piece, i had to make sure that all the elements are doable in moving shots, meaning all the elements can be realized using 3d and video fx apps for actual cgfilm scenarios. think of it as a visual board its what cg studios use for referencing vfx shots.

COOL COOL enjoy and I'll keep u posted on the progress of this film.

PEACE OUT!
MC!

This is a nice piece. The orb thing is really nice. There is a lot here I would like to critique.

To begin, I find the composition a little confusing. While I think the characters are attacking eachother (and that is how I'm going to appreach this), it also feels like they are both attacking the orb. Which one is going on here?

Also, the left character looks really stiff. The hood/hair on his head doesnt seem to be affected by any forces, where his robe is flailing everywhere. The character doesn't appear to have a very good grip on the nearest sword either, it seems to be slipping out of his hand. Since he is attacking the other guy, I also feel his pose is too vertical for a distant leaping attack. If he was jumping in a very high, but narrow parabola, then it would be a more correct pose.

As for the other guy, I feel he is just really hard to see in general. Whether he is defeding or attacking is also ambiguous due to the composition of the image and the orb. This character is leaning very heavily on his front foot. Such a position would throw him off balance and make it difficult for him to defend any second attack or even make a riposte or counterattack. I would make him stand straighter, with a narrower stance. You also move that arm up, to make him appear more on the offence/defence.

Finally, the claw thing in the background seems a bit mysterious. It looks like part of the ghoul/orc guy, but isnt clearly defined.

dood this is not a higbudget film its a student film, theres like 3 ppl doing this thats it. we cant create somthing ILM or dreamworks can do in half a year. but for that amount of production time this is way off the charts. we havent seen this quality of film created by a small group of ppl in the caliber of game cinematic. we can spend time making each scene perfect but for a 7minute animation for 6 months tweaking is not an option. most of the stuff will be blurry anyways. one thing to remember in 3d film production everyone cheese out, if it looks good its good enough. it all depend on how big the production group. in this case i have to reitterate this to everybody this is a 3 man team group -all students not ppl who has access to industry techniques. actually this is a nobuget film $0 dollars this kids work on this film for 6 months straight 18-20hrs a day. thats how this shiz works its not just creating a single frame like this piece its creating thousands of frames like this.. thats the big picture.
